After School Enhancement Program is a well-organized developmentally appropriate program for children aged 5-12, which focuses on recreation, socialization and education. Because of your donations last year, there were;

  • 348,880 reading minutes accomplished
  • 325 hours of physical activity per child

Stronger: Supporting Youth Coping With Addictions is a program that allows youth to drop in to a safe environment to receive assistance and resources for coping with addictions and escape the temptation of activities which may trigger relapse.  The goal of this program is to provide a safe, supportive and confidential place for any youth ages 18-29 who may be struggling to cope with addictions.  Last year, your financial support to the United Way provided:

  • 612 hot meal suppers 
  • 305 support sessions with a youth worker
  • 188 technology uses for job and housing searches

Free Nutritional Breakfast Program serves 90+ children and youth each morning and provides an important nutritional and safe start to their day;

  • 450, on average, breakfasts served per week 
  • 18,900 breakfasts served during the last school year 
  • 1,070 breakfasts served during the summer months

Credit Counseling Youth Outreach Program is a program that offers free financial literacy presentations and 1-on-1 budgeting/intervention sessions to aid youth in improving their financial situation.  This program increases the financial literacy skills of youth in PEI. 

  • 37 1-on-1 appointments
  • 21 presentations
  • 396 youth participants for the presentations
  • $11,833 was the average consumer debt load, not including student loans, cars or mortgages

Nuts for Nutrition is a program that teaches 5 to 12 year olds about healthy living.  Children learn how to lead a healthier lifestyle through baking and food preparation, better eating habits, and having healthy, nutritious afterschool snacks.  Last year, 17,885 healthy snacks were provided to children on PEI because of your donations.

Your donation changes lives in our community. Your support can help people upgrade their skills to become financially secure. You help house people who are homeless. You provide pathways out of poverty. You help families learn about healthy eating with support to community gardens. You give seniors a way to connect to others in the community. 

You make neighbourhoods safer. And your support can provide multi-year funding to programs that align with United Way’s focus on poverty reduction and healthy living.
