Andrew MacDonald is a lawyer based out of Summerside, Prince Edward Island, the province where he was born and where he is proud to make his home. While Andrew chose to move away from PEI to pursue his studies, first at St. Thomas University in Fredericton, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts, double majoring in English Literature and Economics, and next in Kingston Ontario, where he earned his J.D. at the Queen’s University Faculty of Law, he has always felt that the Island was home.
Andrew returned to PEI in 2019 to enroll in legal articles with the aim to be called as a member Prince Edward Island bar. Since November 2020, Andrew has been proudly working as a young lawyer, developing his legal practice alongside the experienced and respected advocates at Key Murray Law, in Summerside. Andrew practices in a broad range of areas, including civil litigation, family law, administrative law, residential rental law, commercial transactions, fisheries, and real property. Andrew has always been passionate about issues of economic equity, food insecurity, housing, and particularly of issues relating to the root causes of poverty, including mental health, addictions, and gendered and racial inequalities in our society.
While at Queen’s, Andrew spearheaded successful student initiatives for raising funds and donations for a local area food bank, and he ran an annual winter-clothing drive for the Kingston youth shelter. Andrew is excited to continue his work in these areas by contributing his passion and his legal education to the work of the Board of Directors for the United Way of Prince Edward Island.
