UWPEI Poverty Priorities for 2023 Provincial Election

United Way of PEI calls for commitment from all parties to prioritize poverty elimination.

We all agree that we need to work together to turn poverty into possibility on PEI. Based on United Way of PEI’s research, consultation, and experience over the past three years supporting the community response to COVID-19 and Hurricane Fiona, we know there are two key steps to make this happen:
  • Shift 30% of project funding for charities and non-profits to core/operational funding.
  • Announce a Basic Income Guarantee project on PEI.
United Way is asking all party leaders to commit to the actions above and to work together on our shared mission to make PEI a place where everyone can thrive.
